The Ministry of Defence (MoD) and the Department of Defence Production (DDP) conducted a two-day interactive workshop on the adoption of Industry 4.0 and Quality Assurance (QA) 4.0 for Defence Production on April 24–25, 2025, at the HQ Directorate General of Quality Assurance (DGQA) in New Delhi. The workshop focused on discussing strategies for automating processes across various Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) and sharing best practices.
The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Garima Bhagat, Joint Secretary (Land Systems), MoD/DDP, who emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to collaborating with DPSUs and the industry to integrate advanced technologies such as IoT, Big Data Analytics, AI, and Blockchain in the pursuit of producing world-class defence products.
During the sessions, Shri N. Manoharan, Director General, DGQA, announced that a National Defence Quality Conclave is scheduled for May 8, 2025. The conclave will feature the release of a vision document on Industry 4.0 and QA 4.0 adoption and an expert panel discussion.
This workshop was organized as part of the 'Year of Reforms' initiative, following the directives of Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh and Secretary (Defence Production) Shri Sanjeev Kumar.
